SID (Secure ID) FAQ’sWhat do SentryBay Products do?SentryBay’s solutions are designed to provide real-time protection against electronic data theft and identity theft, allowing a user to browse and use the internet more safely. SentryBay’s solutions are able to prevent data capture without needing to identify malware itself. Thus the software provides a complementary yet more proactive level of protection than that offered by conventional desktop security solutions. What SentryBay products are there?Personal Data Protection Suite is data and identity theft prevention software that protects everything you type when you are online. It comprises of anti-key logging software (EntryProtect) and anti-phishing software (PhishLock). EntryProtect secures login data (such as usernames and passwords) as well as any other sensitive data entered into websites, such as credit card/bank account details, SSN’s/VAT numbers, details of financial transactions, personal identifiers, etc. PhishLock prevents phishing attacks by identifying whenever a scam phishing site is loaded by a user and the software then prevents users from entering confidential data into these malicious web pages. SID is a USB-based solution that provides mobile safe browsing. It includes its own browser with EntryProtect and PhishLock built in, and the option of downloading the Personal Data Protection Suite to your home PC. SID permits the user to safely surf the internet from any remote PC without leaving any trace. What is SID?SIDor Secure ID is a removable USB device that provides portable protection when surfing the internet. SID comes complete with a secure Internet browser, SentryBay’s PhishLock, and SentryBay’s EntryProtect technology built in. SID is generally sold with 3 Personal Data Protection Suite licenses, enabling the customer to install SentryBay protection on up to 3 PCs. How do I use SID?SID is USB-based and therefore can be used on any PC computer. Simply insert the USB device into a PC’s USB socket and if ‘Autorun’ is enabled an Internet browser should open automatically. If the computer does not have ‘Autorun’ enabled, you will need to open ‘My Computer’, locate the USB device and double click on the SentryBay Shield to run the secure browser. Can I use SID on my Apple Mac?No, they are only supported on Windows operating systems. If you have a Windows partition on your Mac then you can use SID but SID is not supported under OSX operating systems. What are the minimal requirements to run SID?Either Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, at least 128MB RAM, a 233Mhz processor or higher. 32-bit operating systems only. What Internet browsers are supported?SID comes complete with its own secure browser so can work on any Windows computer. How do I know if I am protected?When SID is inserted and you are using the secure SID browser you will see the SentryBay Scrambler in the top right as shown below:
This scrambler streams random keystrokes while it is running to show that you are being protected. Can I install SID locally on my home PC?Yes, bundled on your SID device is a version of Personal Data Protection Suite which can be installed on three other PC’s such as your home PC or laptop. You can install this software from your SID menu on your task bar. Just click on Install Software and follow the instructions on the screen.
What is a Phishing Site?A Phishing site is a fake web site that pretends to be a legitimate site to try and trick you into entering personal details, usually relating to bank account details, usernames, passwords, credit card details, etc. What happens if I go to a Phishing Site?If you navigate to a Phishing site your browser will automatically display a warning page to prevent you entering your personal details. If you choose to you can ignore the warning and proceed to the site.
Which web sites are protected against Phsihing?There are a large number of sites (over 800) that you are automatically protected against, too many to list here which cover all the main categories of the web such as; Banking & Finance, Payment Processing, Auction sites, Utilities, Entertainment, Social Networking, etc. The list of protected sites is growing all the time and your software will automatically update itself with these new sites. I have lost my SID, what can I do?Unfortunately the only option, like any other product is to purchase a replacement. We recommend you purchase from the same vendor where you purchased originally.
